Many local governments are responsible for managing solid waste created by households and businesses within their communities. In particular, solid waste management begins with the collection and storage of solid waste. Collection involves either picking up waste curbside or gathering it from drop-off locations. Storage operations involve maintaining the waste at interim sites prior to recycling or final disposal.
