Introduction - Training, Awareness, and Competence

What's the most critical step to ensure that your EMS performs as designed and that it involves employees from all levels and divisions? Training and Awareness!

As you have learned by now, buy-in and understanding of an EMS is not automatic. How you communicate EMS information, both in format and level of content, is an important consideration. An EMS is about effectively managing day-to-day responsibilities and activities, minimizing environmental impacts, and looking for areas to improve. This simply cannot be accomplished without - you guessed it - Training Employees!

In the EMS context, there are two types of training: 1) EMS Awareness Training; and 2) Competency Training. We will explore both of these in the following 6 steps. Let's go!
