Step 6: Check Your Nonconformance and Corrective and Preventative Action Procedure for EMS Conformance

After you have documented and implemented your EMS Nonconformance and Corrective and Preventative Action procedure it's time to check if it's actually working according to your plan. Here are some questions to think about.

Do you have a procedure for identifying, managing, tracking, and completing (closing) EMS nonconformances?
Does your process include identifying the root cause and assigning responsibilities and timeframes for completing the Corrective Actions?
Do you document and record your corrective actions?
Do you have a procedure to prevent nonconformances from reoccurring?
Do employees clearly understand the process and where to find the relevant forms to use?
